Prioritizing work at the end of the quarter in an enterprise SaaS company was straightforward.
The Eisenhower Matrix dissolved into two quadrants – sales and everything else.
But as outside counsel, juggling multiple clients at the end of the quarter was particularly chaotic and not straightforward at all.
Clients (both internal and external) are not empathetic to the needs of other clients.
I am puzzling through the Eisenhower Matrix for outside counsel (at the end of the quarter and in general).
I think the definitions should be:
“Important” means:
Value of the client to the firm including strategic value.
Internal expectations/visibility of the matter from senior partners or colleagues.
Consequence of missing a deadline (eg. regulatory fines, clients losing important deals).
“Urgency” means:
Number of times you are followed up with by the client.
I think this stands up but would love to hear your thoughts and input!
