Trying to come up with the best analogy for software licensing vs SaaS.
π¬ Netflix: Back in the day, you physically receive a DVD at home, watched the movie and then returned it by post (like a software license) - VS - logging on at home and watching through the internet (SaaS).
ποΈ Gym memberships: Buying your own equipment and taking it home (software license) - VS - going to the gym and working out where you don't own anything, don't have to worry about maintenance etc (SaaS).
π Cars: Hiring a car where youβre responsible for the vehicle during the rental period (software licensing) - VS - taking a taxi where you use the service without owning or maintaining the vehicle (SaaS).
Not sure if any of these really landed except for Netflix.
